Upholding our Constitution and Appointing Conservative Judges
I believe the Founders knew what they were doing. They intended for these Constitutional foundations and separations of power to remain in place for ages to come. The late Judge Antonin Scalia believed the separation of powers does more to protect our rights and freedoms than even our Bill of Rights.
It has been said that “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Yet, through the far-sighted wisdom of our Founding Fathers, our Constitution has worked, remaining a bulwark against tyranny and a guarantor of freedom. To ensure our Constitution remains so, I am working with President Trump to ensure we appoint a record number of conservative Judges who interpret the Constitution strictly as written. We’ve already come a long way with the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court last year. With the announced retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy and other more liberal Supreme Court Judges expected to retire soon, President Trump and the Senate, which confirms his judicial nominees, have a historical opportunity to ensure our federal courts strictly interpret the Constitution and our laws as written.
